Church Office

'Before' Picture of the Vestry.

Extra rooms in the new church building are limited, but we were determined to come up with a creative solution to squeeze office space into the church.

This Summer we moved our church offices from rented space in Partick into the church, saving hundreds of pounds a month.  The Vestry off the main entrance has become a wee office space for administrative stuff, filing cabinets, the printer, office storage, and message-review on Sundays. During the week we have tables in the sanctuary for staff meetings, team planning, and just simple working.

It has come together nicely, just in time for a busy Autumn of ministry. We were hoping to achieve a more ‘open door’ feel at the building during the week, and so far it’s working.  People are dropping by the church, working, planning, doing ministry, building refurbishment, cleaning, chatting, etc.   Life is filling the place.

Here are some ‘After’ pics of the wee vestry office.  I caught some of Sarah putting together the service folders for Sunday.

Renfrew Fun.

This week is vastly different from what I would call, “Normal.”  Kellie and I are spending our mornings at Renfrew Baptist helping with their Holiday Club [US=VBS].  Here are some pictures of the fun and craziness.

Fun times.  I have no idea how Brian Luse does it… Amazing.

I’m Back

Just a quick update to say I am back after being out of the country for several weeks. My CRM conference was very helpful especially thinking about our Bible Read Through Groups. It is good to be back and I expect I will be posting some new updates soon.

How did I get here?

Last Friday I had the special opportunity to speak at Roger and Rosie’s wedding in Northern Ireland.  I actually really enjoy weddings and being apart of them. They are such special and powerful moments where you get the chance to proclaim Jesus to many who usually stay away from church.

It is rare that I get the chance to speak in Northern Ireland, but there I found myself last Friday in this incredible building getting ready to preach.  While waiting, the leader of that church told me of the building’s incredible heritage.  It was C.S. Lewis’ church.  His grandfather was the vicar and his home was just around the corner.

As I sat there I asked myself the simple question, “How did I get here?”

For the next several minutes I remembered all the unlikely things God has done these past years to bring me to this unique moment.  God has been so good to Kellie and I!
